We are Scotland’s pro-life organisation !
“SPUC Scotland affirms, defends and promotes the existence and value of human life from the moment of conception.”
SPUC Scotland was founded in 1966 to oppose the legalisation of abortion in the UK.
We continue to uphold the principle of respect for human life, in particular the life of the unborn child.
Our constitution is non-religious and endorses the United Nations Declaration of the Rights of the Child (1959):
“the child needs special safeguards and care, including appropriate legal protection, before as well as after birth.”
This internationally enshrined Right to Life, laid down in the International Declaration on Human Rights, is the FIRST and FUNDAMENTAL of all human rights.
At SPUC Scotland we believe to be Pro-life is to accept that EVERY human life is of equal value, regardless of physical or mental characteristics or stage of life development or circumstances in life.
OUR AIMS ARE TO:
- Defend and Promote the value and existence of human life from the moment of conception until natural death.
- Reassert the principles in the United Nations 1959 Declaration of the Rights of the Child that the child “needs special safeguards and care, including appropriate legal protection, before as well as after birth.”
- Assist and Defend the life and welfare of Mothers during pregnancy & their Children from conception up to, during, and after birth.
- Challenge Legislation and regulations relating to abortion, euthanasia and assisted suicide.
